Robert Scoble attacks the cat blogs… but what about MyCatBlogLog?
Robert has been on the rampage lately with posts against the gadget blogs and TechMeme.
No cat cow is too sacred and now he has taken on the cat bloggers with “signs blog is boring: cute cat photos?”
Of course, the contraversy is all in the title and he’s actually recanting his former opinion that one of the top ten signs a tech blog is boring is if you posted photos of your cat.
Perhaps it cuts like a knife only because it is so true?
My mascot is not pleased.
I wonder what webomatica will have to say about this?
UPDATE: Webomatica has this to say about it… long live MyCatBlogLog. :)
(Of course, this is all jokes. Robert was the first person to link to me.)

mmm… when i think of //engtech, i think of the kitty mascot. :) but kitty pictures make people smile! they are the awesomest (yes, i realize that’s not a word). well, except for the puppy pictures.
It’s kind of funny how the cat turned into a recognizable avatar for the blog.
As long as they aren’t dressed in clothes.
(just saw the new sidebar. Very nice, uncluttered, fits window, clear text)
Thanks mpb.
I’m on a declutter kick.
I have a project in the works. Maybe it will have to debut sooner than later. Public beta, baby!
Well I think you are doing just fine… and my blog (has been up for almost 2 weeks now) has been getting 100 hits a day and all I post on there is stuff about animals which includes many kitty pictures, this guy doesn’t know what he is talking about.
@web: Got to ride the buzz!
@adorablay: Oh, it was all in good fun. His post was about a major news site posting pictures of cats with game controllers and had nothing to do with me.
MyCatBlogLog Public Alpha
After the end of 2000 bloggers I was sort of mulling about a way to form a network without having the link thing be a problem on Technorati. One solution, suggested by //engtech was to do it in Flash. I decided to do a silly page featuring all the MyBl…
Hey, engtech:
I think the cat picture is great. Besides, the cat avatar *is* The Mystery That Is Engtech (TM) – in fact, I’m guessing that the computer science major is just a smoke screen and it’s the cat that’s doing all the writing! :-)
Just kidding! Forget Scoble, and keep the cat …
What’s awesome about all this is that MyCatBlogLog was made.

You’re definitely the first person I thought about when I read Scoble’s post. :)
Well, cats are a little tired as a graphic meme, but yours is quite presentable and has transcended the mere “catness” of his appearance to become a recognizable Internet brand, so you get a bye.
But I, also, am fucking tired of the bloody cats. All common or garden techies have cats, whether they have love lives or not it seems. And once they get a cat, they become “cat people,” ie slightly precious, finicky hypochondriacs.
I won’t even participate in the 2000 bloggers project, because a solid 15% of those bloody pictures are CATS. I mean, putting a face to a blog is great. Putting an avatar to a blog is great. Putting a mask of any kind to a blog is great. But they are NOT the same damn thing. 2000 Avatars is a very different project indeed.
Probably a scheme for linkbaits or something. What’s wrong with posting photo of your cat in your blog?
It’s your blog right?
I’m sure all the tech bloggers out there envy you, your knowledge and your cat’s snoopervisory position. I’ll just bet they wish they were looking over your shoulder at your next blog post in the making … miow
