Stumbling through //engtech at random (or any wordpress.com blog)

Click here to view a random post from //engtech.

Thanks to Matt and the suggestion from TechCrunch it is now possible to surf through any wordpress.com blog at random.

If you look at my sidebar there is a new link called “Random Post“. Keep clicking it to go to any other post I’ve written at random. You might be surprised at what you find!

All wordpress.com bloggers can do the same thing for their blog by adding “?random” to the URL of their main site.

Oh hey, they also just added icons to Sandbox. I’ll have to update my CSS.

There’s also rumours that there’ll be an update that separates tags and categories sometime in the next couple of months. Looking forward to that one.

Aloha! I’ve been added to Garry Conn’s Technorati favorites list. Hope you’ve been able to keep up with adding the updates. I see you haven’t gotten to me yet. You can do it here:

I’ve added you. Mahalo for returning the favor!

Oh god, you mean I’ll have to bother learning the difference between tags and categories now? Bloody hell, as if I don’t have enough to do.

How on earth did you find this?

And here I was re-uploading half my stylesheets only yesterday because they somehow managed to delete the originals. Sigh.

The introduction of genuine tags (as opposed to categories that sometimes behave like tags) wouldn’t surprise me, as it’s pencilled in for 2.3 and they’ll be wanting to test it. (I know it was originally pencilled in for 2.2, but I don’t think anyone was taking that very seriously. In the end Matt just threw in some half-assed code at the end of the development schedule, everyone shouted NO!, and they decided to wait for the next release and do it properly.)

I like the ?random thing. Reminds me of diaryland.

Pretty cool! That definitely adds a bit of a fun, game element to checking out a blog.
